SMS Recycles

Starting this week the city will pick-up the following items for recycling:

paper

magazines

aluminum cans

plastic soda & water bottles

Pick-up days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday

I understand there are some recycling bins around. Please let me know if you have one (or more) in your classroom. I would like to get separate bins/boxes for recycling plastic bottles and cans. They request that we remove the caps from the bottles and they prefer not to have the bottles and cans mixed in with the paper.

I will distribute white recycling bags to each classroom.  Please assign or requests at least two volunteers per classroom. Their role is to (1) make certain only paper is in the white bags and (2) take the bags out to the fence next to the cafeteria regularly. We don’t want the bags to be too heavy for the students or city workers.

I will be setting up a container in the cafeteria to collect plastic bottles and cans while at lunch.

Also, please tell students that I am collecting empty Capri Sun pouches. Each pouch can be redeemed for two cents.
