Terina O. Gantt

Terina Gantt has spent a career coaching volleyball, softball, and other sports at the secondary and collegiate levels. In fact, she was the American Volleyball Coaches Association Coach of the Year for 2002-2003 when she was coaching at Huntingdon College.
Since last year she has served as a science teacher on the 8th grade hall at Southside Middle School.
Anyone who knows Mrs. Gantt would believe that she is always excited to be a teacher, but this year is already proving to be the best yet.
“What a fun and exciting time to be a teacher of middle school kids -yes, I said middle school kids,” Mrs. Gantt stated. “It has been so much fun to watch these kids earn Southside Bucks for good behavior, going the extra mile to help others, making good choices, and then being able to spend their own ‘earned’ Southside Bucks,” she continued.
Mrs. Gantt is serving this year as the President of the Tallassee Educators Association, which includes representatives of the Alabama Education Association (AEA). Despite the accolades she has received throughout her career, she is still pleased to be on the 8th grade hallway at SMS these days.
“I have 8th grade students asking me if there is anything they can do to help me! Yes, you heard me right -- middle school students volunteering to help clean, take out trash, pick up after others - Southside students are GREAT!”
